Unfortunately, the start of our pilot course has had to be postponed. We will keep you posted of the new start date ASAP. In the meantime, why not join us at our fundraising dance on 5th January? More details on our Fundraising Dance page.
EDCA has created a pilot course for callers of both English and American dance, starting in the new year, to be held in the East Midlands. The pilot course will have 6 sessions arranged as a full day once a month on a Saturday or Sunday. If successful, we intend to seek national funding to enable us to offer the course more widely – perhaps in multiple locations at once.
Each session will be run by two tutors and include time for each participant to call and receive feedback. There will be seminars on specific topics and practical exercises relevant to the experience of the participants. Providing sufficient time for all participants to call is essential, so numbers will be restricted to 10. Participation is on a first come, first served basis. Should we exceed 10 applicants, we will maintain a waiting list.
The cost of the course is £15 per session or £80 for the whole course payable in advance.
Partners are welcome to attend and join in the dancing during the practice calling sessions.
We wish to acknowledge the help we have been given in designing this course by the Stafford Callers’ Forum.
Another group, Mercian Folk, is doing similar work in Worcester and the West Midlands. Contact Brian Stanton brian “at” the-stantons.uk for more information.
